Lebanese singer Elissa has defended her point of view of not minding having a child out of wedlock if laws and traditions allowed it. Elissa stressed that if it was permitted socially and legally, she would love to be a mother and it is her dream.
Elissa said during an interview with the entertainment show “Super Star” on the Egyptian satellite channel Al Hayat that her statements of having children out of wedlock were misinterpreted and people accused her of not caring about ethics and tradition. Elissa stressed that she said she would take such a step if and only if traditions and laws allowed it. She added that if such an act remains against traditions, she would never take such a step.
Elissa added that she stated she wished she has children and dreams of raising them and have a child carry her name, but the Christian religion does not allow adoption unless it’s for a married couple and not someone who is single.
The singer stressed she wishes she would get married to have her own child and she is very ready for such a step at this point in her life. Elissa stated that rumors of her being involved with someone and plans to get married are not true.
