Ezzat al A’laili Returns to Stage with ‘Misters MPs’

Egyptian actor Ezzat al A’laili will return in summer months to the theater in the play al Sadah al Nuwwab (Misters MPs) scripted by Atef al Ghamri and directed by Ahmed Ismael. 

The play tackles in a political satire style a number of issues, which the Egyptian public opinion raises nowadays. 

A’laili has also started shooting the starring role in the series Noor al Qamar under the direction of Sami Mohammed Ali. The series is based on a story by the Egyptian Nobel Prize winning writer Naguib Mahfouz bearing the same name. It is one of the art works being shot to be aired during the forthcoming Ramadhan with a hefty budget of more than five million pounds. 

“The series is set in the forties in a working class neighborhood in Cairo. I play the role as A’zmi, the former army officer who is terminated due to his patriotic stances and his friendship with a prominent member of a secret organization that makes its efforts to expel the English out of Egypt,” A’laili told the UAE daily al Bayan. 

A’zmi continues with his fight until he is arrested. Before appearing in the court, A’zmi is taught to tell the judge that on the night of the operation which he is arrested for he is on a visit to a lady called Noor al Qamar. The lady is called for testimony and affirms Azmi’s claim and so the court is spurred to set him free because there are no evidences against him in the military operation against the camps of the occupation forces. But A’mi gets killed after leaving the prison. Events develop as a result of the emergence of many political camps, which complicate the situation more.
