Gala Fahmi: I’m Your Genie in a Bottle

The Egyptian film Gala Gala, directed by Mazen Al Gebali, stars Gala Fahmi, Faris, Yassmin Abdel Aziz, Shams and Ahmed Al Adl.  

Gala, daughter of late director Ashraf Fahmi, plays a genie who accidentally finds herself living among a family and can't help but get involved in their personal lives, pretending to be human while she’s at it.  

The film belongs to the social comedy genre. It depicts the story of a widower, Haj Radwan, who retires early and finds himself exhausted and stressed out from raising his children. 

He becomes convinced that there has to be a supernatural power to deal with these kids, and started searching for a genie to solve his problems, not realizing that by this, he is worsening the situation.  

His attempt to find this genie isolates him from his family, and the real world, transporting him to a world of supernatural. And when the genie appears, he can’t bear the surprise, and suffers a severe heart attack that puts him in the intensive care unit in a coma. 

The genie, Gala, finds herself in this mess. Since she cannot leave, because the comatose idiot is her master, she befriends Reda, the eldest daughter of Radwan. The daughter learns the secret of the genie and finds out that by the seventh full moon, the genie will burn up and disappear. 

Friendship develops between the two girls. Reda introduces the genie to some family friends, and the genie solves their problems.  

Meanwhile, Radwan recovers at the right time and learns what the genie did with his family. He and his family all struggle to save the genie they all love from burning up, and at the last moment, they succeed – Albawaba.com
