Two weeks after the release of the album “Salaf Wa Dain" (Borrow and Debt), Lebanese singer George Wassouf is still dominating the number one spot in the music charts bringing in the highest record sales. The singer is witnessing this success around the entire Arab world and is heading towards being noted the best and number one album to be released this year.
According to the London based Elaph, the singer is also experiencing a similar success on his personal website, which turned out to be the largest and most visited website for any one singer. The site also holds the largest number of members reaching over 9 thousand names.
George is still filming the song "Salaf Wa Dain" in the form of a video clip under the direction of Tony Abu Elias in a number of villages around Syria. It is noted that George has repeatedly worked with Tony or his wife Mirna due to the fact that a strong friendship is shared between them. The filming is to take three days in Syria and then the whole cast to move to Lebanon to complete the clip.
Tony revealed that the music video for George's new song will surely be a surprise to everyone. He added that the theme of it has never been done before and stressed that it is only suitable for someone like George.
The case of forged copies of albums for Lebanese singer George Wassouf seems to haunt him with every planned release. It has been revealed that forged copies of his upcoming album have been leaked to the public before the official scheduled release. The singer seems to experience this type of misfortune every single time he prepares for a new album, making one wonder if it is truly a coincidence.
This year to add to the misfortune of forged copies, the singer is faced with a second shock which is a release of an album of his that features a collection of his old songs remixed without his prior knowledge by Music Master Records Company. The remix tape has been released in stores and is definitely going to affect the sales of the new album negatively.
The whole incident is in a lot of ways mysterious especially since the producer company for George’s albums is now Rotana and it has for some strange reason postponed the previously scheduled release for the album “Salaf Wa Dain" (Borrow and Debt), supposedly was due to be released on June 17, 2003 has been postponed until June 25 for no apparent reason. Rotana refused to give out any information behind its decision saying that it wishes to keep them a secret. –Albawaba.com
