What is it?
Middle East Film and Comic Con 2016 is an international exhibition that brings together fans of comics, film and gaming entertainment, and is one of the biggest pop-culture festivals of the region. Celebrities, artists, producers, exhibits from all over the world make their way into the festival.
Venue and date
The MEFCC 2016 will be held at the Dubai World Trade Centre in Za’abeel halls 4, 5 and 6. The events starts on April 7 and ends on April 9. On April 7, the event opens at 11am for VIP pass holders while Day pass holders enter at 2pm. On all other days, the event will be from 10am to 10pm.
Celebrity guests
Some of the celebrities who will visit this year are Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jamie Lannister from the Game of Thrones TV series), Summer Glau (actress), Max Landis (host at MEFCC, screenwriter, director, producer and actor), Veronica Taylor (actress), Nick Frost (actor, comedian, screenwriter, producer and author), Stan Lee (American comic book writer, editor, publisher, media producer, television host, actor and former president and chairman of Marvel Comics), Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future fame) and Randy Orton (WWE Superstar).
Guests also include artists from the comic world of make-up and illustrations, writers, producers and more.
Workshops
Learn how to create life-like scars and face-moulding or learn how to characterise a superhero through creative writing. Workshops at the MEFCC include writing, design, illustrations and gaming design. See the full schedule here and see your workshop mentors here.
Cosplay Competition
One of the most anticipated parts of the event, Cosplay invites you to dress up as your favourite character and perform on stage as a solo act or as part of a group. All you have to do is select a character, fill up an online form and send the selection and music for the skit to competitions@mefcc.com. See further details here.
