Joining the big guns! Gisele Khoury hired by BBC Arabic

The well-known Lebanese presenter Gisele Khoury has been hired by BBC Arabic and will present a new TV programme, the Scene (Al Mash’had), as part of new programmes that BBC Arabic is due to launch early 2014.

Poduced by Mona Hamdan in Lebanon, (Al MaMsh’had) brings into focus some of the most compelling eyewitness accounts of recent history in the Middle East. Gisele will travel to different countries to meet with predominant Arab and international figures and hear their accounts of events that have shaped history.

The new show won't be a big challenge to Khoury, as with her track record of journalistic experience, and distinctive TV presenting, she has interviewed many high profile leaders and influential Arab decision makers over the years.

“I’m delighted to be part of the BBC, a major media organisation that has got the significant history in our Arab world. The BBC is widely known worldwide by its high professionalism and credibility in covering the news in transparent and balanced way,” said Gisele Khoury.

“BBC Arabic’s style of in-depth analysis of the news and what’s behind it, offers me the opportunity to present the (Al Mash’had) in a professional and distinctive way. The BBC’s solid values and freedom in asking questions also help me to provide BBC Arabic’s audience unique accounts and stories which, in a way or another, have formatted our Arab political map” she added.
