Donald Glover is planning on retiring from music and closing the book on his rap persona Childish Gambino following the release of a fourth album.

"There's nothing worse than like a third sequel, like a third movie and we're like, 'Again?', the 33-year-old said during an interview with the Huffington Post. "You know, I like it when something's good and when it comes back there's a reason to come back, there's a reason to do that."

"Like I feel like there's gotta be a reason to do things and I always had a reason to be punk," he continued. "Being punk just always felt really good to me and we always looked at Atlanta as a punk show and I feel like the direction I would go with Childish Gambino wouldn't be punk anymore. As much as "Redbone" is a punk song because it's a gospel song that's on the radio, I'm like there's only so far you can go before you just are the radio."

Glover said onstage Saturday during the Governor's Ball Music Festival in New York City, "I'll see you for the last Gambino album," following his performance.

Glover's third album under Childish Gambino, Awaken, My Love! was released on Dec. 2 and featured the single "Redbone," which reached No. 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

Glover has remained busy by starring and helming FX drama Atlanta and scoring roles in films such as Spider-Man: Homecoming and Disney's Star Wars spinoff film about Han Solo where he will portray Lando Calrissian.

Glover is also set to voice Simba in Disney's upcoming live-action reboot of The Lion King. Recently, the former Community star signed on to helm a new animated series based on Deadpool alongside his brother and Atlanta collaborator Stephen Glover for FXX.
