Egyptian actress Riham Abdul Ghafour has turned down an offer to star in the international film “Cleopatra’s Wedding”, which is a joint corporation between Egypt and the United States of America, under the direction of American director John Van. Riham was offered to play the role of a young Egyptian girl who falls in love with an American scientist, who comes to Egypt to discover the secret behind the appearance of Cleopatra in his dreams.

The scientist falls for the Egyptian girl due to her strong resemblance of Cleopatra, and through her is eager to learn about the Pharaohs civilization. On her part Riham refused to accept the role due to the fact that the film fabricates many facts about the Pharaohs civilization in addition to the refusal of the production company to delete a number of sexual scenes.

Riham added that the fact that the production company disregarded consulting an Egyptian historian to ensure that the ideas presented in the film are based on facts, is an additional reason behind her refusal saying she will not take part in any work that distorts Egyptian history and civilization.

On a different note, Egyptian director Mohammad Al Najjar nominated Riham for a leading role in his upcoming film “Sidi Al Atifi” (Mr. Emotional) alongside Egyptian singer Hamada Hilal. The film is scheduled to begin filming of scenes in the upcoming few days.

Riham is currently taking part in two different Ramadan television drama series. The first is in the TV drama “Al Ama Nour” (Aunt Nour) alongside Egyptian actress Nabila Obeid, and the second in “Mas’alit Mabda” (A Matter of Principle). –Albawaba.com
