Egyptian artist Huda Sultan has gone on the record confirming a dispute with her step daughters, the offspring her former husband, the late actor Farid Shawki.
“The ties between me and my…step daughters are about to be cut,” she said. “My share in the inheritance [from Shawki]far exceeds the 100,000 pounds they are offering.”
“The problem is not a matter of money, but is rather a matter of principles,” the artist added. “There is a will, an Islamic Sharia law, and a civil law…for resolving the matter between my daughters and their stepsisters.”
Responding to a question about her relationship with the artist Madihah Yusri, widow of her late brother Mohammed Fouzi, Sultan told the Saudi daily Al Riyadh: “Madihah Yusri is more than a sister to me. She is a very decent lady and has not changed since she got married. Even before she got married, she was a beautiful, cool, quiet and pious person, so she is always in my heart.”
“Art is my life, and source of enjoyment, and the attempts by my late brother to keep me away from it were due to his fear [that I would fall in with bad people]. I find my pleasure in front of cameras and inside studios. Thank God I didn’t face difficulties for so long. The difficulties I faced did not affect me much; on the contrary, I learned a lot from them.
“I consider myself one of the lucky ladies because I do not have any animosity or antagonism against anybody at all. Artists call me the ‘white-hearted lady,’” Sultan added, in response to a question regarding her late brother’s attempts to keep her away from her art career.
Responding to a question about whether she felt ashamed of her starring roles in certain films including Nisaa Muharramat (Unlawful Ladies) and Imraah Alattarik (A Woman on the Way), Sultan said, “there has been nothing shameful in my life. I am used to not feeling sorry for any art performance I offered up, as art is not my hobby but is rather my profession.”
“I did not live the roles, but I performed them on the screen with all the proper female understanding and awareness. What is the relationship between this and my personal life? I did not promote any thing bad at all. I offered this type of performance so that people would take care, and so that every girl would realize that nightlife that leads to bitter results has neither enjoyment nor stability,” added Sultan - Albawaba.com
