Huriya Farghali was crowned as Egypt’s Beauty in “Miss Egypt 2002” contest which took place on Friday at the open-air theater in Mina village 4 in Alexandria, according to the Arabic daily al Anwar.
The title of the first runner-up was won by Sara Nashat and the second runner-up was won by Nour al Samari.
Sixteen girls, who are Egyptian universities students, reached the final competition stage after extremely difficult tests in many fields including general knowledge, international issues, languages and other aspects in addition to beauty and body measurements.
The queen, Huriya Farghali was crowned by the last winner of the title “Miss Egypt 2001”, Sara Shahin.
Later, Farghali will start preparations to represent Egypt in the Miss World contest.
The jury committee headed by the writer Mohammed Salmawi, consisted of actress Madlin Tabar, director Tareq al Erian, the organizer of the contest Yousef Sbahi and beautician Mahmoud Haridi. This is in addition to a number of art and beauty figures in Egypt and other countries including Miss Croatia and Miss Serbia.
However, intensive security measures was taken by police at the ceremony which was attended by around 2000 people – Albawaba.com
