Actress Zebeida Tharwat said in a recent interview that her father had rejected her marriage to legendary Egyptian singer Abdel Halim Hafez due to Hafez's career.
Tharwat's interview aired on the TV Channel Al-Hayat with presenter Amr al-Leithy on the Bi Woduh program Sunday evening. She told him, "Abdel Halim went to my dad behind my back and asked for my hand. But my dad refused and told him he would not allow his daughter to marry a singer."
