Iconic Egyptian-Pakistani director Mohamed Khan dies aged 74

Iconic Egyptian-Pakistani film director, screenwriter and actor Mohamed Khan has sadly passed away on Tuesday morning.

Khan rested in peace at the Andalusia Maadi Hospital in Cairo following a sudden deterioration in his health.

The celebrated director was 74-years-old. He was born to a Pakistani father and Egyptian mother on 26 October, 1942.

Khan's work focused on real-life social and political issues in Egyptian society. He documented the way Egypt was from the late 1970s, when he started his film career.

Khan's funeral will be held this afternoon at the Kuwaiti Mosque at Zahraa Maadi in Cairo.
