Val Kilmer’s going to be starring in 1st Born, a comedy about Ben and Kate, who are expecting a baby. But there’s a complication with the pregnancy, forcing Ben’s parents to come together. This is tricky: Ben's father, Hamid, is an anti-American Iranian politician; Kate’s father (named Biden, amazingly) is his anti-Iranian counterpart.
The film will star Val Kilmer, who’s been in films like Heat and Top Gun.
But the most interesting part is how the film will be produced: in a historic first, 1st Born will be funded by companies from both Iran and the US, with LA Independent Film and Entertainment handling the American part, and Sam Khoze, Edwin Avaness and Pourya Naserbakht in Iran.
Sam Khoze, Tarek Zohdy and Medhi Alimirzayi are credited as screenwriters; Iranian filmmaker Ali Atshani (Paradise, Mr. Alef) will direct.
