ALBAWABA - Iranian state media announced on Sunday that an Iranian court had jailed popular pop artist Amir Hossein Maghsoudloo, better known by his stage name Tataloo, for spreading "obscene content".

The 36-year-old famous underground artist Tataloohad been living in Istanbul since 2018, when Turkish authorities turned him over to Iran in December of last year.

Elham Rahimifar, Tataloo's lawyer, said without providing details that the defendant received a combination of "short and long" prison sentences.

Tataloo was prosecuted in March for allegations of "prostitution" promotion, "propaganda" dissemination against the Islamic Republic of Iran, and other "obscene content."

The conservative officials in Iran sought out Amir tataloo in the past as a means of reaching the young, progressive population via her music that blends rap, pop, and R&B.

Even with Iran's current president, ultraconservative Ebrahim Raisi, he had an uncomfortable encounter on national television in 2017.

As a historic nuclear agreement between Iran and the global powers began to fall apart in 2015, Tataloo released a song endorsing Iran's nuclear program.
