Hollywood actor Jake Gyllenhall is heading to Dubai to receive a very special award.
The Brokeback Mountain lead will be presented with Variety’s "International Star of the Year" at the 12th Dubai International Film Festival (DIFF).
Abdulhamid Juma, Chairman, Dubai International Film Festival, said: “Jake Gyllenhaal is a huge talent and undeniably one of the most accomplished actors of his generation. His screen presence has captivated audiences since his earliest roles and he is one of the most versatile actors working today.”
Gyllenhall, 34, is undoubtedly one of this generation's most brilliant actors, having taken on award-winning roles in blockbusters including Donnie Darko (2001), Jarhead (2005), Zodiac (2007) and most recently Everest (2015).
Steven Gaydos, Vice President, Executive Editor, Variety added: “‘Southpaw,’ ‘Nightcrawler,’ ‘Enemy,’ ‘Prisoners,’ ‘Everest’ and ‘End of Watch’ all demonstrate this vital young artist’s skills, amazing range and the depths to which he’ll travel to find his own unique truth and personal insights into each of these complex and often haunted characters.”
An exclusive public Q&A event with Gyllenhaal will be held during the festival.
DIFF will run from December 9-16.
