The Algerian expatriate comedian Jamal Debbouze will join the stars of the French film Asterix and Depardieu in its second part which the French screening venues will begin screening Wednesday.
French cinema observers anticipate that the film will break the barriers of their expectations with 14 million French visitors to see it during the weeks of screening it.
The French producer and director Claude Berri hopes the second part of the satire film Asterix: Mission Cleopatra will record a greater success more than the first part seen by 9 million French persons when it was screened at the French screening venues. This is due to the new actors, which the director added to the second part including the comedy actor Jamal Debbouze who plays the role as Nimiropiece. The film’s prominent star Gerard Depardieu who became aquatinted with Debbouze during the film’s shooting told the London based daily al Sahrq al Awsat, “Jamal’s intelligence helps him to prove himself. What a wonderful thing when you see him listening to advice from every body without hesitation. He is characterized with trop artistic traits.”
“Jamal is excelling in this part and he is a stunning artist for his artistic comedy performance in this film,” added Depardieu.
However, this Arabic element in the French movies is not the first of its type in recent years particularly in view of the fact that the film aims from the commercial perspective at attracting the Arab community in France which reaches five millions.
The 50-million-euro (45-million-dollar) film relies on computerized special effects to replicate the cartoon world of the original comic book series that inspired it.
The film which needed a hefty budget for shooting it over nine consecutive months marking the biggest shooting work in the history of the French cinema will be a loosing deal if five million cinema goers only see it. The Production Company looks for twice this number for it to become profitable.
