It’s certainly Jennifer Connelly’s year. The 29-year-old brunette, whom you may recall from such early films as Labyrinth and The Rocketeer, has made a real comeback in 2000.

She has a new TV show, Fox’s The $treet, and has starred in two indie films, Requiem for a Dream and Waking the Dead, opposite Jared Leto and Billy Crudup, respectively. Now she’s in line to join A Beautiful Mind as the wife of Mr. Gladiator himself, Russell Crowe.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Connelly is in talks to sign on as the long-suffering wife of schizophrenic mathematical genius John Forbes Nash Jr. (Crowe), whose illness threatens to destroy their marriage.

Ed Harris has already joined the film as a high-ranking military intelligence officer. Connelly and Harris co-star in the upcoming biopic Pollock, about another high-maintenance genius: artist Jackson Pollock.

Ron Howard will direct Mind for Universal Pictures and DreamWorks and his Imagine partner, Brian Grazer, will produce. Filming is set to begin in mid-March.

Connelly’s other film credits include Inventing the Abbotts, Mulholland Falls, and Dark City. – Albawaba.com.
