Jennifer Lopez, also known as JLO was born to Puerto Rican parents, as a kid, Jennifer did not want an ordinary life, she always wanted to be in the spotlight and sing, however, her parents, kindergarten teacher and a computer specialist wanted Jennifer to study, but the superstar wanted to be famous instead.
She has an older sister named Leslie Lopez and a younger sister named Lynda Lopez. Both of her sisters are involved in the journalist profession.
In the final year of high school, she sought several small film projects and landed herself a role in a low-budget film, My Little Lady, in 1986.
Jennifer loved dancing, and at the age of 17, she got into Manhattan's Dance Studio, and in 1991, she was chosen to be a dancer for the TV show: In Living Color.

Her breakthrough film was Selena. It was released in 1997, and was based on the life of the singer Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, who died very young. Jennifer Lopez played the title role of Selena. The same year she played one of the lead roles in the popular movies Anaconda and Blood and Wine.
After that, Jennifer wanted to sing again, so she met with president of Sony Records, who helped her start on her 1998 debut album On The 6, three years later, she released My Love Don't Cost a Thing that was number one in the United Kingdom.
When Jennifer finished high school, she enrolled at Baruch College to study law, but she dropped out because she her ultimate dream was to be a movie star and a singer, she wanted to be in the limelight.
However, her family did not approve of her decisions, resulting into Jennifer moving out of her family home and live separately in Manhattan.

Jennifer met her high-school sweetheart David Cruz when she was just 15, the couple started dating in 1984, but when she started being famous, the relationship became unstable, the couple broke up in 1994.
Sadly, David Cruz passed away in March of 2020 of heart disease.

A year after breaking up with Cruz, Jennifer started dating fellow actor, Wesley Snipes. The pair met in 1994 on the set of Money Train and they split in 1995.
