Jordanian actress, charged with normalizing with Israel, Amal Dabbas, has revoked her stand on Wednesday by sending an apology letter to the head of Jordanian unions, head of the Lawyers Union, Saleh El Armouti and head of the Artists Union, Mohammad Al Birmawi.
The actress also joined the union’s anti-normalization committee, which works on hindering Israeli efforts to integrate into Jordanian society.
Dabbas had previously undergone various criticisms regarding her collaboration with actor Nabil Sawalha and Hisham Yanis, who have both paid visits to Israel in 1995. During their trip to the Jewish State, the trio visited assassinated former Prime Minister Ishak Rabin at the Holocaust Museum and placed wreaths on his grave.
In her statement, the Dabbas sais “I went to visit Israel because of my faith in extensive and just peace; which, in turn, would bring back the rights of Palestinians.”
The actress also stated that she also had humanitarian causes, including the improvement of relations between the Arabs and Israeli-Arabs (Arabs of 1948).
She added that another reason was personal.
“I wanted my mother, may God rest her soul, to visit her homeland, Jerusalem, and pray in the Al-Aqsa Mosque and see the old Jerusalem roads, where she was raised; but I was never able to do it,” she said.
Dabbas asked for forgiveness from all “as a citizen who judged wrongly the intentions of Israel, who have lied about peace.”
“With the passing of years, the truths began to be revealed and it was obvious that we were being offered an unjust peace and we are dealing with a very spiteful enemy, who does not respect our agreements and who does not want peace; but wants the destruction of our Holy sites and the occupation of our lands,” she says in her statement.
Meanwhile, the union’s had already thrown the three normalizing actors out; because of a policy regarding normalization with Israel. – Albawaba.com.
