Kanye West is known around the world by his nickname Yeezy.

But the Chinese firm Fujian Baby Network Technology Co. has apparently filed to trademark the moniker, TMZ reports citing court documents.

Though West's company obtained the copyright on 'Yeezy' to sell shoes in 2013, they relinquished it for all other clothes last year.

After Fujian Baby Network Technology Co. filed to trademark 'Yeezy' for clothes, West's company sprang into action to do the same.

Unfortunately for the rapper, because Fujian Baby Network Technology Co. filed first, the trademark office has given preference to the Chinese company, which wants to use it for the term Yeezy Boost.

Should West want to use the Yeezy name for anything other than shoes, he may face a potential legal battle, adds TMZ.

West is not the first member of his family to run into a problem of this kind.

His half-sister-in-law Kylie Jenner, 20, sells globally famous lip kits under her own first name, and recently attempted to copyright: 'KYLIE.'

She was legally opposed by Australian pop icon Kylie Minogue, but the opposition was pulled in January, leading to speculation of a settlement.

Minogue, 49, told Rolling Stone that 'it was nothing personal at all,' and described the conflict as 'wrapped up' without needing 'to go to court.'

She insisted: 'I've never met Kylie Jenner. I've never met any member of the family - actually, I've met Kendall just in passing at a fashion event - but I honestly don't know them.'

West and Jenner have another similarity - each of them has welcomed a baby daughter into the world this year.

On February 1, Jenner gave birth to a little girl named Stormi Webster, whose father is 25-year-old rapper Travis Scott (real name Jacques Webster).

Meanwhile, West and his wife Kim Kardashian used a surrogate to bring their third child, a daughter named Chicago, into the world this January.
