ALBAWABA - French footballer Karim Benzema documents his experience performing Umrah in The Great Mosque of Mecca. 

Footballer Karim Benzema, who plays for the Al-Ittihad Club shared a clip of him while he was at Mecca performing Umrah pilgrimage, he captioned the post: "The only truth, Thank God." 

In the video, the 35-year-old athlete appeared at Masjid al-Haram and was thankful for the opportunity. 

Benzema expressed his happiness performing Umrah despite the loss of his new team Al-Ittihad Club to Al Hilal in the quarter-final of the Arab Football Club Championship. 

Al Hilal defeated Al-Ittihad 3-1, and Benzema missed a penalty kick for his team. 

Recently, Benzema expressed how he feels about living in Saudi Arabia, he shared: "I live in Saudi Arabia because I'm Muslim and this is a Muslim country, and I have always wanted to live here. It's different, it's different to Europe. I've already been to Saudi Arabia and I feel good about it."

He added: "Most importantly, it’s a Muslim country, it’s beloved and it’s beautiful."

The athlete also shared that he wants to learn how to speak Arabic fluently, he said: "I would like to speak Arabic fluently, it’s important for me. This is where I will feel at my best and in my element."

Benzema comes from an Algerian Muslim family, and his uncle is an imam in the village from where his grandfather emigrated.
