Karol Wolf received an award for ‘best Arab rising singer’ from MTV Arabia at an award celebration held at the ‘Press Club’ in Dubai. Karol had received the award at the European Music Festival which is organized by the television music station every year.
The manager of MTV Arabia in Dubai, Samer Al Marzoki, was present at the celebration.
According to the London daily Elaph, Karol thanked MTV and said that she felt a great responsibility winning such an award.
Karol responded to questions posed in Arabic by journalists through her translator.
Karol Wolf is originally from Lebanon and was born in 1979. He grew up in the United Arab Emirates and then moved to Canada. He became famous after he released his song “Butterflies.”
Other artists nominated by MTV for the ward were Lebanese superstar Carole Samaha, Egyptian artist Muhammad Hamaqi and the Emirati singer Fayez Al Said.
Karol was granted the award because the majority of fans voted for him, according to MTV channel.
Some journalists criticized that the award went to an artist that does not speak Arabic.
