Iraqi superstar Kazem Saher has bucked the depression caused by losing the only copy of his new album, and fans will be glad to know that he has completed a new and different disc.
The followup to his previous and very successful album “Al Hob Almostaheel” is called “Abhathu Anki” (Looking for You). The album was issued last week and offers 10 songs for the heart, which are different from the ones that were lost.
Produced by Lebanese production house Rotana, Saher has given the new album, including the title song “Abhathu Anki,” a more western feel, most notably through the use of instruments like drums, saxophone and guitar.
Yet overall, he has kept his fascinating style based on sweet harmonies and affectionate oriental rhythms. As always, the melodies and Saher’s warm, velvet-like voice turn the rather rigid Arabic poetry into a river of passion, according to thisiscyberia.com.
Al Saher also recorded a beautiful, romantic poem written by the famous Syrian poet Nizar Kabbani entitled “Koula Amen Wa Anti Habibati” (You Will Remain My Love Forever).
The album also contains: “Mal Wa Ihtajab” (He Turned and Disappeared), “Allayla Ihsassi Gharib” (Tonight, I Have a Strange Feeling), “Ya Zaman”, “Elli Yirid Al-Helo” (Who Seeks the Beauty), Zaman, “Mu Dihiktak” (It is Not Your Laughter), “Sa’altaha” (I Asked Her) and “Shukran” (Thank You).
Most Saher fans will be satisfied with the pleasant new album, even though some have criticized the sometimes excessive use of western beats and instruments – Albawaba.com
