A new trend has started amongst Arab singers to sing in the Khaliji (Gulf) dialect. Many have added a song in the khaliji dialect to their albums or released a solo single in the dialect, and most have received positive reviews from their fans.
Lebanese singer Rami Ayash added a song in the khaliji dialect to his latest album called “Ishtaqtilak Weli” (Oh My I Miss You) and he wore traditional attire from the gulf countries while singing it in his video clip.
According to the Qatari daily Al Raya, Lebanese singers Asi Hilani and Miriam Faris also added khaliji dialect songs to their recent albums. Yet some were offend when Miriam Faris added seductive movements to the khaliji song and the khaliji dance.
Lebanese singer Yara has mastered the khaliji dialect.
Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram performed the song “Mishta Leek” in the khaliji dialect.
Other Lebanese singers like Ragheb Alameh, Nawal Al Zoghbi, Amal Hijazi and Madline Matar all sang in the Khaliji dialect and their songs were successful.
