ALBAWABA - On Friday, July 26, Lady Gaga performed a unique performance during the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
A swarm of dancers carrying pink pompoms encircled Lady Gaga, who sported a feathered black outfit.
On a golden stage with a black piano, Gaga sang Zizi Jeanmaire's "Mon Truc en Plumes" in French.
After the first song, Gaga took a seat at the piano and played for a little before her band came on and finished the show.
Gaga expressed her immense gratitude for the invitation to open the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris in a heartfelt letter she delivered via X after her performance. Furthermore, it is with extreme humility that I accept the invitation from the Olympic Games' organizing committee to perform a uniquely French song, a tribute to the French people and their rich cultural heritage.
She went on to say, "The incredible Zizi Jeanmaire, a Paris-born French ballet dancer, sang this song in 1961. Zizi is most famous for her version of "Mon Truc en Plumes."
We worked with Dior to make unique outfits utilizing organically fused feathers," she said of her choice of attire for the occasion. A contemporary spin on French classicism was the focus of my studies in French choreography. In addition, I spent many hours honing some old talents while studying a delightful French dance.
At the conclusion of her address, Gaga expressed her gratitude, stating, "I will never forget the gift of being invited to your country to sing your tribute." My heartiest congratulations to every single athlete participating in the Olympics this year! Providing musical and energetic support is a privilege. The Olympic Games never fail to move me to tears. You have an extraordinary gift. Athletes, get ready! Performing in French is nothing new for the American singer; in 2018, for her film "A Star is Born," she sang Edith Piaf's iconic "La vie en rose," one of her most renowned songs.
Aya Nakamura sang a song with the Republican Guard band at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, which included a number of dance acts.
Ariana Grande, Zendaya, Serena Williams, Pharrell Williams, John Legend, Rafael Nadal, and Zinedine Zidane were among the many famous faces in attendance at the ceremony, which marked the final torch relay before the Summer Olympics officially began today.
