The Egyptian movie star Laila Olwi said she desires playing out the role of a Palestinian mother-of-a-martyr in a film about the Palestinian issue, indicating that she has found a good script.
However, she has not been able to drum-up enthusiasm amongst the production companies. She attributed the predicament she is faced with to the crisis the Egyptian cinema industry is currently witnessing - excess demand for comedies and not enough supply, which has got many production houses in Egypt rushing to sign up famous comedians.
The glamorous actress's statement came during a press conference she was giving at the International Cinema Festival, in the Egyptian City of Areesh, where she received an honorary mention — Albawaba.com
