Lebanese director Elli Habib is currently shooting his new film about the life history of the Italian saint Dominico Savio declared by the Vatican as saint in the middle of the twentieth century while he was still not exceeding 15.

Ruaa Production Company is producing the film in which more than fifty actors and actresses take part.

“The film focuses of the last three years of Savio’s life while he was in the monastery under the care of Don Posko. The film’s implementation required detailed studies on his life history but we primarily depended on a script which George Sharvan wrote in a cinematic style,” the director told the daily al Nahar.

Responding to a question on how he secured the 19th century environment, Habib said, “it is one of the most difficult things we faced in implementing the film because we needed western-style historical sites, the fact that required big efforts. After continuous and hard work we selected various areas in Lebanon particularly those areas where snow is still found.”

He added, “the set, accessories, wardrobes and music were selected in a way to be consistent with the era during which Dominico Savio lived in Italy. More than 50 types of wardrobes have been selected and the film’s music is more or less close to the romantic era particularly the styles of Verdi, Tchaikovsky and Rossini.” -- Albawaba.com
