A short while back Emirati singer Ahlam celebrated reaching 5 million followers on Instagram. At the time, she insisted that all her "follows" came from genuine accounts.
However, the photo-sharing website reduced her number of followers to 4.8 million this week, and all we could do was LOL.
Little did we know that 200,000 of those followers were fake! But why would "Queen Ahlam" resort to buying followers if she has as huge a fan following as she claims?
With that being said, Ahlam remains one of the most well-known and popular singers in the Middle East. Admittedly, she has strong vocals, but it isn't her music that's keeping her in the spotlight these days; it's her controversial views and hilarious/arrogant Snapchat videos and social media posts.
Ahlam, you better play nice if you want to earn 10+ million genuine followers like Lebanese stars Nancy Ajram, Elissa and Myriam Fares.
