After a Lays potato chip commercial aired starring Argentinian soccer star Lionel Messi and Egyptian comedian actor Ahmed Helmy in light of the World Cup 2014, rumors began to surface that the two celebs were super tight.
For those assuming that Ahmed was suddenly best friends forever (BFF) with Lionel, read what Ahmed actually has to say on the subject via a Facebook post.
According to Laha magazine, Ahmed said, “My dear friends, I never claimed that I met Messi or saw him in real life, I just said this is my new commercial with Lione Messi.” He added, “Each of us filmed the portion of the commercial that concerns him in his own country and this is a normal thing with commercials that feature stars from different parts of the world.”
Ahmed stated that he was mistaken not to clarify the way the commercial was made and said, “I thought you were aware of the way the commercial was made, and by the way there are a lot of foreign commercials filmed in the same way, but of course there is a mutual agreement between all sides that will appear in it. And every person must know who will appear with him or her in the commercial and must agree to it.”
