In denial - Egyptian belly dancer Lucy denied recent circulating rumors that she held a private performance in Israel. The dancer stressed that she is very proud of being an Arab and Egyptian and the idea of performing in Israel would mean she is a traitor and against everything she believes in.
With regards to rumors about a number of Egyptian businessmen, who are said to belong to Islamist political parties, making offers to buy the nightclubs located in Cairo’s famous Al Haram Street, Lucy said that no such offers were ever made. Lucy stated that Islamists cannot buy out the nightclubs in Egypt to close them down for the mere fact that they are the source of income for so many families and they are a part of tourism in Egypt that brings in the most profits for the country.
According to the internet website MBC.net, Lucy noted that she has not yet decided on which candidate to vote for in the Egyptian Presidential Campaign and will make up her mind once she listens to each candidates agenda.
Lucy expressed her disappointment at the verdict made against prominent Egyptian comedian actor Adel Emam sentencing him to a three month jail sentence for blasphemy against Islam in his different projects. She added that she has decided to take part in the demonstrations around Egypt opposing the verdict and demanding a retrial. Lucy said that such a verdict is part of a conspiracy against stars in Egyptian by Islamists in power.
