After a long period of apparent reluctance to appear on the silver screen, Egyptian actor Mahmoud Hamidah agreed to star in the TV series Qamar Bab Al Shea’riyyah (Moon of Bab Al Shaariyyah), according to the Arabic daily Al Sharq Al Awsat.

In the drama, Hamidah plays a young man who competes with a tycoon (Omar Al Hariri) for love of the most beautiful woman (Dalal Abdel Aziz)in a working-class neighborhood.

“I reviewed more than 10 TV series over the past two years alone without finding an attractive role. Finally, I found Qamar Bab Al Shaariyyah (Moon of Bab Al Shea’riyyah) in which I play a different role for the first time in my life,” Hamidah told the daily.

Hamidah has recently wrapped up shooting his latest film, Bahib Al Sinama (I Like Cinema), along with Laila U’lwi. The film is expected to be screened during the upcoming Fitr Feast – Albawaba.com
