Young up-and-coming actress Mai Nour El Sherif has denied rumors that her father and acting legend Nour Al Sharif forces her to act in roles he has chosen for her. Anyone that says as much is being ridiculous, she says. Nor does her famous father have a favorable hand in her bagging roles.
The starlet with the prestigious acting roots insisted that she gets cast into roles the same way as other hopeful actors. She is adamant that were she not qualified for the job, she would not get chosen.
She just wishes that those perpetuating the fiction of her father force-feeding roles on her would pay half as much attention to her acting talent, and critique her performance to keep her on her toes and on track to success. That, she wouldn't mind.
She also volunteers that her roles speak for her acting success and skill, as borne out in her repertoire of drama so far, including "Al Dali", " Matkhafoush" (Don't be afraid), " Wadi Al Moulok" (The Valley of Kings) and Qadiyat Ma'ali Al Wazerah" (The case of His Eminency, the Minister). These have all been strongly rated TV series.
Moving away from the Daddy influence, what about Mother knows best? Her own mother, Bousy, gave her advice on her career that she is happy to share: "My mother is always careful to give me the right kind of advice, asking me to take my acting seriously even if it's a small part. As for my dad, he advised me to never hold back on my acting."
What do you think of the father-daughter act? Is Mai under the thumb of her acting giant father Nour El Sherif?
