The Sharjah Media Centre (SMC) will host Lebanese singer Majida El Roumi in the first ever concert in the emirate of Sharjah, the Capital of Arab Tourism for 2015.
The concert, which will be held at Al Majaz Amphitheatre on Friday, January 23, is sponsored by Tilal Properties.
The concert is part of the Sharjah Media Centre's efforts to promote the presence of Sharjah on the regional and international events calendar and to highlight the emirate's growing approach toward organizing and hosting the most prestigious concerts, with the participation of renowned singers and artists from the region and the world.
Osama Samra, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, said, "We are pleased to present to Sharjah’s residents and visitors the great Lebanese singer Majida El Roumi in her first live concert, hosted by the emirate. Majida is widely known and respected throughout the Arab world, not only for her beautiful voice but also for her works that express the concerns and issues of Arab intellectual elites. This is due to Majida’s selective choice of songs and lyrics written by prominent Arab poets, as well as her songs that deal with compassionate, humanitarian and national issues. Because of this, we are confident that Majida’s concert at Al Majaz Amphitheatre will linger for a long time in the memory of her audience and fans who love high quality music." Samra emphasised that by hosting big names such as Majida El Roumi, the Sharjah Media Centre aims to actively participate in the various efforts that contribute to positioning the emirate as a leading cultural and artistic destination in the region. He noted that the new Al Majaz Amphitheatre, with its hi-tech equipment and unique designs, has contributed significantly in attracting big names and prominent artists to perform their concerts in Sharjah.
