Jordan’s 20-day Shabib Festival, which will begin on July 1, will host a bevy of stars including singers Marcel Khalifeh, Ragheb Alamah, Shaaban Abdel Rehim and the Palestinian popular singer Abu Arab.
The festival higher committee chief, Al Sharifa Budour Abdel Ilah, announced in a press conference held on Wednesday that Alamah and Khalifeh from Lebanon, Mahmoud Anwar, Arab and his troupe, Wael Jassar and Maya Nasri from Iraq, and Egyptian pop singer Shaaban Abdel Rehim would participate in the festival.
“A number of artists will represent Jordan at the festival, including Ribhi Rabah, Emad Khawaldeh and Naser Irsheid, in addition to the Nairouz, Qala’h and Al Hashimiyyah folkloric troupes,” the committee chief said, adding that the renowned Lebanese singer, Sabah, would be the festival’s guest of honor.
A festival for children will be held on the sidelines of the event, since ten days will be designated for children’s theater and art troupe shows in Zarqa municipality’s park.
The festival proceeds will be allocated for the services of the local inhabitants of Zarqa (30 kilometers east of Amman) and its activities will cover Jordan’s various areas throughout this year.
