Mariah Carey shocked her Lambs (AKA her fans) by announcing a surprise new album, The Rarities, on Wednesday.

The 50-year-old legend called the new album 'monumental' during an an appearance on GMA where she also discussed her upcoming memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey.

During her appearance, the star belted out a dazzling at-home performance of her very first number one hit, Vision of Love, hitting her legendary high notes like a pro.

'I found stuff in my vault that I had either started to work on a long time ago and never released or that I wanted to kind of finish mixing,' she told GMA's Michael Strahan.

Adding: 'There are songs that have previously not been released, so it's exciting.'

The Rarities is a two-disk album that will feature never-before-heard songs from Mariah's three-decade long career spanning from 1990-2020.

'It's a monumental occasion for my career,' she said. And, then added with a laugh: 'Being in this business for two years is really tough but somehow we've lasted.'

To chat about her new album and perform one of her classics, Carey was set up in a mini studio at her own home.

She recorded the live video via her iPhone that was positioned between two mini studio lights.

The star shared a behind the scenes snap before going live, with her arms in a shrug while perched on a chair. 'Live TV in 2020,' she quipped in the caption.

While she didn't want to give too much away about the song, she told Strahan that it has a 'charitable component.'

The Hero songbird is also set to release her new memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, which she called 'a labor of love.'

'There are a lot of very personal stories about my childhood ... those are difficult but very cathartic as well,' the star explained.

Adding: 'The cool thing about this project is that there are songs that I talk about writing or recording even as a little kid, starting as a little kid, until now that I've found in the vault.'

The album will be available just days after her memoir The Meaning Of Mariah Carey becomes available on September 29.

'We're kind of putting this out at the same time, and I don't want to give away too many titles or anything but it's exciting because they're kind of merged together in a really organic way,' she said on GMA.

The Rarities will be released on October 2nd and is currently available for pre-order.
