Matt Damon visits world wonder Petra while filming "The Martian" in Jordan

Matt Damon is in Jordan!

Oh how we envy the locals who got to work with or meet the brilliant Hollywood actor in the Kingdom's Wadi Rum.

Damon is in the Middle Eastern country to film Ridley Scott's science-fiction "The Martian," where he plays Astronaut Mark Watney.

According to IMDB, the film revolves around a "manned mission to Mars, where Astronaut Mark Watney is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive."

Scott chose Wadi Rum as his filming location because of its rosy desert and pink mountains, which easily makes a believable planet Mars!

Many film buffs will recognize Wadi Rum from the memorable "Lawrence of Arabia," 1962, or from when it was used as the surface of Mars in "Red Planet" in 2000, and most recently in "The Last Days on Mars," where they used it for exterior shots representing the surface of the titular planet in 2013.

But filming went so smoothly that they wrapped up three days ahead of schedule, giving them time to make a trip to the nearby breathtaking city of Petra - one of the 7 wonders of the world - and later enjoy a traditional cup of coffee in a real Bedouin tent in the desert.

Damon's next movie adventure is taking him to another world wonder, where he will lead the cast in Chinese film director Zhang Yimou's blockbuster "The Great Wall" in China.

"The Martian" is set for release on November 25, 2015.
