Syrian director Anwar Al Qawadri selected young actress Mays Hamdan to join the cast of his new television drama series “London’s Arabs.” The series will be filmed over the next few days, and will be aired during the upcoming Ramadan season.
The new series is written and directed by Al Qawadri and takes place between the early 70’s up until the late 90’s. It centers on a group of young men and women of various Arab nationalities who by coincidence end up in London.
They face numerous obstacles as they experience cultural differences and newfound freedom of European society.
According to the London daily Elaph, Mays plays the role of a wealthy Palestinian woman, Muna and she lives a luxurious life with her family and is not interested in politics. Muna occupies her time with fashion and shopping until she meets Syrian Abed Al Fahed, who has a great deal of interest in politics. Muna’s life is turned upside down when she falls in love with Abed and he asks for her parent’s blessing to marry her. His offer is rejected, and Muna becomes rebellious against her parents.
Mays is very pleased to be working on the project because there are so many different Arab actors from Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Morocco and Jordan working on the new series, she said.
