Saudi singer Mohammed Abdo opened the third Doha song Festival Sunday evening at Sheraton Hotel. And UAE singer Rabab was honored after she performed some of her old songs at the opening ceremony of the festival.
The Arabs’ Artist, Mohammed Abdo, called for the assessment of the song festivals held in some Arab countries to motivate singers for providing better words, performance and cadences. He called all the concerned persons to distance themselves from courtesy, according to the daily al Hayat.
The Saudi singer who has large fans in the gulf and other Arab states viewed his presence at Doha Festival as a consolidating element for the musical stage. “I do not produce musical songs to appear on the satellite channels but I focus on musical stage,” said Abdo reiterating his keenness on participating in the festivals to satisfy his gulf audience and media.
The festival committee benefited from the presence of Abdo in the festival by requesting him to hand out to Rabab the Crystal Shield after she performed her songs. Upon honoring Rabab, Mohammed Abdo told the audience, “singer Rabab is the oldest and best gulf voice.” -- Albawaba.com
