Shout out to Saudi! DJ Omar Basaad is the first Arab EDM producer nominated for MTV EMAs

Nominees have been announced for the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards with Katy Perry leading the pack with seven nominations. Saudi Producer/DJ Omar Basaad, became the first Arab EDM producer to be nominated for the best worldwide act in the “Best Middle East” artist category. Palestinian Arab Idol Mohammad Assaf has also been nominated in the category of “Best Middle East” artist. Ariana Grande has six successful nominations while 5 Seconds Of Summer and Pharrell Williams scored five nods each. Sam Smith, One Direction and Kiesza all have multiple nominations. Fans have also been given the opportunity to vote for their favourite artists via the Biggest Fans category. You can vote using the hashtag #EMABiggestFans along with the artists’ names.
