The Egyptian scenarist Muna Nooriddin hopes to script a topic on May Ziadeh as a writer or as a name that echoes in the literature world.
“My orientation was not towards the woman literature but rather towards the humanitarian literature which is a general trend that depicts the strong woman feelings and how to discuss them from inside. This is in addition to her position in comparison with the man away from the idea of equality and the problems she faces. Therefore I feel that most of audience are women because they see their pride on the screen,” Muna told the daily al Hayat.
Nooriddin objected the belief by some that texts written by women fall short of those written by men. “Women’s production is more than man’s production. I can see some women writers who managed to draw attention. Hawanem Garden City is no less in importance than any work by a male screenwriter tackling the social and political aspects. Without illusion I consider myself equal to a male screenwriter if not better sometimes,” she said.
The issues that Muna wants to express in her scripts include the woman’s feelings, her relation with man, and the types of oppression she faces and how to avoid them in addition to the Egyptian issues.
