Lebanese-Colombian singer Shakira Mubarak has previously announced that she will accept no less than 2 million US dollars from any Arab singer wishing to sing a duet with her. The singer has made her request to her business manager and stated clearly that anyone wishing to sing with her must meet the price she set, reported the London based daily, Al Quds Al Arabi.
The desire to hold a duet with Shakira has caused for a greedy and fierce competition to take place in the Arab music industry among singers, specifically male singers. The infatuation with Shakira has taken the Arab world by storm as female singers try to imitate Shakira’s style believing that wearing the least among of cloths while performing, the larger their popularity will be.
A number of male Egyptian singers have gone out of their way trying to cut a deal with Shakira in order to sing a duet with her. The recent addition to the list of singers that are undergoing extensive negotiations with Shakira is Egyptian singer Mustafa Amr, being fourth in line after Amr Diab, Hamada Hilal, and Tamer Hosni. Mustafa has been trying very hard to keep his negotiations with Shakira a complete secret not wanting the word to get out unless he is successful in convincing her to sing with him. It was revealed that despite the secrecy of Mustafa, it his negotiations have become publicly known. Shakira until this point has not reached an agreement with any Arab singer making room for more attractive offers.
Diab is trying to reach an agreement with Shakira in order to sing a duet. The singer, who recently struck an agreement with Rotana Music Production Company, has put all his efforts in steaming negotiations with Shakira, stressing to her that choosing a duet with him would be the wisest decision. Amr stressed that if Shakira does choose him both will benefit in the sense that she will open the doorways to stardom for him in the US and Europe, and he will in turn open the door of popularity for her in the Arab world.
On a different note, Mustafa has been undergoing a number of performances around the Arab world, in addition to preparing for his upcoming album. The singer revealed that he has prepared a new surprise for his fans, which is a song sung in the Lebanese accent, a first time attempt by Mustafa.
Summaya has revealed that she is reading a script for a new film, which she refused to give out any details on, but has stressed that she will not begin any new work until she is complete with her current movie and it is out in theaters. The singer added that she has pulled out of the play “Kidda Okay” (Like This Okay) in its last season of showing. She did not reveal the reasons behind her backing out simply noting that its due to personal circumstances.
Al Khashab had finally announced the news of her marriage to an Arab businessman, proving that recent circulating rumors of her secret marriage are in fact true. The actress had disappeared from the scenes in the past month creating numerous rumors to come out that stated she has resigned from acting and gotten married.
Summaya said that she does not intend on making any further comments regarding her marriage stressing that it is a personal matter and does not concern anyone. The actress also revealed that she had gone to Europe with her husband and spent over a month.
