The prominent Syrian director Nabil al Maleh who is known for his narrative films, is currently shooting a documentary film entitled Qalb al Sahm (the heart of Sham).
The film depicts the history of the city of Damascus starting from the Aramaean period till present. It highlights Damascus under the Islamic period, especially under the Umayyad period when Damascus was the Center of the Umayyad Empire that extended to China and Spain.
The documentary also casts light on the outstanding monuments including Bimaristans, Souks, Khans, old quarters and streets.
