The name of Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram has once been brought up in the Egyptian Parliament creating new commotion among its members. Nancy and Ruby fell in a new dilemma with the members of parliament before getting a final approval on the new alterations made on the Human Resources Law in Egypt.
The alterations included a decrease in the fees paid by foreigners and Egyptians when they hold private parties and concerts. The decrease requested was lowering the fees from 40% to 10%. According to the London based daily, Al Sharq Al Awsat, members refused to lower the fees due to the fact that lowering them would mean more people attending concerts by Nancy and other singers, whom parliament opposes.
All attempts by some of the members failed and a final agreement was reached to lower the fees to 30%. The matter has angered opposing member because they feel that singers like Nancy are harmful to Egyptian youth.
Ajram is in the process of preparing to shoot her first television commercial for the international soft drink company Coca Cola. The commercial is scheduled to be filmed in the upcoming few days in Egypt, which is the place the singer and the company agreed on.
It has been revealed that a song was specially written by Bahjat Qamar and distributed by Tareq Madkour for Nancy to sing during the commercial. The singer underwent a major makeover to appear in a new look especially for the commercial. Sources have revealed that Nancy received a wage of two million US dollars to take part in the commercial, which is one of the highest rates given to any Arab singer by an international company.
On a different note, Nancy is expected to take part in the Hello February Festival that is to be launched in early February from Kuwait.
