Intensive negotiations are currently being held between the music production company Rotana and Lebanese singer Nancy Ajram for the joining of the singer to the company. Rotana is hopeful it will reach an agreement with Nancy and her business manager in order to have her as part of their large list of singers from around the Arab world.
According to the Qatar based daily, Al Jazeera, neither Nancy or her manager has given Rotana a final word on whether they will accept the offer or turn it down. The issue has not gone beyond negotiations, but the matter is to be settled in the upcoming few days in Dubai, where Nancy and her manager will meet with officials at Rotana.
Nancy was in shock when she saw an interview for prominent singer George Wassouf with one of the Arab magazines saying that he does not know who she is and had never heard of her in his life. When the question was repeated to George if he knew Nancy he insisted that he hadn’t heard of her and then simply and innocently had said “Who is this Nancy, is she a Minister?”
Nancy at this point became furious as to how can George humiliate her publicly saying he had never heard of her when her popularity has reached every corner of the Arab world. Nancy revealed that she is looking for a way to get back at George and insult him in a similar manner.
Nancy’s close friends had advised her to disregard the whole issue and put it behind her, stressing that if she made an attack on George she will have all the Lebanese media on her back including tabloids throughout the Arab world, due to the fact that George is considered to be on of the greatest singers of this era, and Nancy’s relationship with the media is already on bad terms.
Ajram has announced that she will be standing in front of the Musical and Singing Committee that belongs to the Egyptian television and radio station in order to undergo a singing examination. The singer revealed that she will test her talent to sing in front of the committee in order to be a certified singer in Egypt if she passes.
The odd aspect of the matter is that many have advised Nancy not to undergo the test, due to the fact that the committee will surely give her a failing mark. Nancy stressed that she is confident that her capability to sing and her talent will surely make the committee give her a passing mark.
On a different note, Nancy has also revealed that she will take part in the Lebanese Marathon “Run Run Beirut” organized by the Beirut Marathon Association, alongside Lebanese singers Haifa Wahbi, Yuro Mrakadi, Milhim Zein, and others. The big event is to witness the participation of thousands of people from around the world, and is noted to be the largest Marathon to ever take place in Lebanon and all of the Middle East.
The big surprise of the event is an operetta “Ilhaqni Ilhaqni” (Follow Me Follow Me) to be performed by all the singers. The singers will sing the song while they are wearing athletic wear to show their support to the marathon, which proceeds are to go to a number of different charitable institutions. –Albawaba.com
