No going back for Hind Rustom

Renowned Egyptian actress Hind Rustom has recently received a very generous offer from producer Mohammad Fawzi to star in a new television drama series, which was supposedly a huge project. The actress thanked the producer for his generous offer, but turned him down apologizing and stressing that her absence from acting is a definite matter and she does not intend on returning.

 

According to the London based weekly, Laha, Hind stressed that if she wanted to return to acting after she resigned, she would have done it long ago. Recently, Hind turned down an invitation received by Egyptian belly dancer Fifi Abdo to attend a special party held in her home in Hind’s honor. Hind stressed to Fifi that she does not like to leave her home and only attends events if they are of extreme importance.
 
Hind’s last public appearance was at the graduation ceremony of her grandson Mohammad from the American University of Cairo. Hind asserted her regret to Fifi for not being able to make the party and congratulated her for her last television drama “Al Hakika Wal Surab”, which witnessed significant success all around the Arab world.
 
Hind Rustom is one of the most popular actresses in Egypt and the Arab world, and who had worked with most of the famous directors in the history of Egyptian cinema. Hind revealed that there are many problems facing today's acting and especially the modern Egyptian cinema. Hind stressed that her opinion of Haifa imitating her role as [Hanouma] in the movie [Bab al-Hadid] Hind said that she does not mind it at all as long as it makes the imitator succeed.
 
Hind added that she disagrees with director Yousef Shaheen in his stance from new singers and actors. "We should give the chance to everyone if they really want to be the eastern Hollywood. As for the cinema I don’t think we have a professional one, the actors now only care about their wages and how much they charge without looking for the quality of the movies." Hind revealed.
 
About female comedians Hind said that currently we don’t have any, and the last one who was a successful comedian was Suhair al-Babli. She added that she had many roles during her career where she performed the role of a beautiful woman but not in a vulgar way and that what made her very popular at her time.
