"Nowruz" the time to celebrate! Aussies line up concerts to mark Persian New Year

World-renowned Iranian Tar virtuoso Keyvan Saket is to hold traditional music concerts in Australia to mark the Persian New Year, Nowruz.

The music program titled East Meets West will tour Australian cities. It is slated to start in Sydney on March 28, thereafter, the ensemble will go to Melbourn and Brisbane.

Mustafa Karami, Reza Karami, Aran Dehkharghani, Sina Arbabzadeh, Sahand Mehrkhavari and Soushiant Azemikhah will accompany Saket during the performances.

Composer, music researcher,Tar and Setar maestro, Keyvan Saket has held numerous national and international concerts.

Saket has recently received several invitations from Canada, Hong Kong, the United States to present his music programs in these countries.

He has also worked with many great figures of Iranian music such as Hamid Motebassem and the late Parviz Meshkatian.

Born in 1960 in Mashad, Saket's musical experience began during his elementary school years while performing with the music workshop on national Iranian television.

He studied the works of classical and contemporary Iranian musicians. He brought innovations in blending Traditional Iranian music and western classical music.

These innovative works include pieces such as Mozart's colorful Symphony No. 40 and Brahms' Hungarian Rhapsodies.
