ALBAWABA - before her tragic assassination, Iraqi influencer Om Fahad who was also sentenced to six months of prison time last year due to "indecent speech that undermines modesty and public morality" was seen in a beauty salon while she took a video of herself and posted it on her social media accounts.
The arrest happened due to the Iraqi Interior Ministry launching a committee to "combat" influencers that share "obscene and degrading content" including Om Fahad.
The video in question was shared on the social media video and photo-sharing platform Snapchat with the addition of a popular Iraqi song that complemented it. According to Al Jazeera, Om Fahad was shot dead in an attack outside her home in Baghdad's Zayouna district as the surveillance camera captured the attack Friday night Apr. 26, 2024.

Despite the person being unknown, the surveillance camera captured that he wore black clothing and a motorcycle helmet. Moreover, they got off the motorcycle and while walking towards a black SUV opened the door and shot Om Fahad.

Om Fahad whose real name is Ghufran Sawadi was also popular on TikTok garnering half a million followers and is best known for dancing to songs but received many hate comments across her official accounts for modifying her body through plastic surgery and excessive makeup making her an easy target to social media users.
The Ministry of Interior in Iraq launched an investigation to understand the reason for the assassination in question and to find out the culprit behind it.
