Abu Dhabi Book Exhibition witnessed last Friday an artistic and unique concert performed by Palestinian troupes, Naji al Ali and al Bayder for Palestinian Pop Arts, at the Cultural Complex’s Theater in Abu Dhabi, according to the UAE daily al Bayan.

Al Bayder started the show by a number of Palestinian patriotic songs which flared enthusiasm among the audience including Ya Rayat Shaabi al Marfoua’h (Flag of My People Raised High), al Dalouna, Ya Thalam al Sijn Khayyem, Shil A’ktafak Wa al Himl Thakil, al Dabkeh and Baktub Esmek Ya Biladi.

Then Naji al A’li Troupe (Abu A’rab) took the stage to perform a number of patriotic and critical songs through which they criticized some Arab regimes for their stance towards the situation in Palestine. These include Shou Ma Hikio Wama Aloo (Whatever They Say) dedicated to the Arab Summit, Li Atfal al Hijarah (For Stone Children) and Sajjel Ya Tarikh (History, Record).

Naji al A’li Troupe is comprised of seven artists playing the lute, flute, violin, dulcimer and other instruments. It has performed many successful shows in all the Diaspora camps and Syrian universities, in addition to festivals in Jordan, Qatar, Yemen, Libya, Algeria, US, Germany, Holland, Iran, Denmark and Sweden.

Abu A’rab told the daily, “the troupe has released two albums, the first entitled al Kuds Wa al Kimmah (Jerusalem and the Summit) and the second Rijal al Watan (Homeland Men) which represents a documented testimony on most of the Palestinian martyrs” -- Albawaba.com
