The 24-year-old SNL comedian surprised fans by answering the critic directly via an Instagram comment.

The issue arose when Pete shared a photo of his father's commemorative FDNY badge on a necklace around new fiance Ariana's neck accompanied with a caption composed of only emoji.
The jewelry item featured the number 8418, which was his father Scott Davidson's badge number he was wearing when he died during the Sept. 11 terror attacks in New York City.
While many fans regarded the gesture as positive, one with the handle ej81842 took exception to the gift, saying 'No girl should ever wear your dad’s chain. So disrespectful.'
The comment received over 40 likes, which may have prompted Pete to respond.

'@ej81842 for ur information that's not just some girl,' declared the Set It Up actor. 'That's my fiance. she's the greatest person I know. I gave it to her because she has my heart and that is the most precious thing I own. My dad would be so happy and love her so much.'
Other fans also came to his defense, stating that they agreed with his sentiment.
Ariana has also inked the same badge number on her left ankle.
Meanwhile, the lovebirds were out and about on Friday, chronicling their visit to Pete's doctor's office.
In one shot, Pete had a white piece of cloth wrapped around his head, writing, 'why did my doctor put this thing around my face like it’s the 20s?'
Ariana shot a selfie in which she was wearing a headpiece of gold thorns and making a puppy dog face as Pete was reclined on an examination table.
