The poetic play al Shahada Amam al Masjed al Aqsa (Martyrdom in Front of al Aqsa Mosque) by the renowned Palestinian poet Samih al Qasem, will open Sunday the 12th session of Shareqa Theatrical Days.
The play scripted by Qasem Mohammed, will be portrayed at the Culture Palace in the UAE Emirate of Shareqa, acceding to the UAE daily al Bayan.
The head of Culture and Media Department in Shareqa, Sheikh Essam bin Saqer al Qasimi made the announcement in a press conference in which he pointed out that the session would witness the portrayal of 17 plays including 16 local ones and one from Egypt. Ten of the local plays will participate in the official contest and the other seven will be out of it.
Participating in the session also is an elite group representing symbols of the Gulf and Arab theater who will take part in the committees, intellectual programs, applied conferences and open discussions. This is in addition to the hosted play from Egypt, which will be staged before the concluding ceremony on the last day of the festival.
Two of the local theatrical figures who played prominent roles in play direction and performance, Jaber Naghmoush and Ahmed al Ansari will be honored at the festival.
The official contest jury this year is comprised of Fahmi al Khouli from Egypt as head and Aziz Khayoun from Iraq, Izziddin Qanoun from Tunisia, Ahlam Mohammed from Bahrain, Walid Omran from the Emirates as members and Mohammed Abdulla from the Emirates as the head of the jury – Albawaba.com
